Sordo is one of the leading wineries of central Barolo, with holdings in no fewer than eight of the ‘MGA’s, more than any other winery. As well as this, they keep an excellent back catalogue of old vintages and Riserva wines.
(An MGA – Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva – is a parcel of land which produces wines with an identifiable character, approximating to a French cru.)
On Sunday 27 October, you can join Giusy Andreacchio, a Decanter Magazine wine judge, wine expert and wine educator, at Cuculo for a thrilling Masterclass tasting of the Sordo portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to get to know Barolo in general, and to taste first-hand the effect of different soil compositions, growing conditions and ageing techniques on the finished wines.
Sessions are at 14:00 and 17:00. Tickets are £35 and are very limited – so book today!
Hop over to the MacNay Travel & Wine web page to read the low-down on the winery, and buy the bottles in-store at Cuculo.
MTW customers can visit the magnificent winery as part of the “Alba & Barolo” four-night, self-guided walk, or within our 3, 4 or 5-night small group accompanied trips.
The wines we have lined up for you are as follows:
Barolo 2017
Ravera 2019
Perno 2003
Monprivato 2016
